About KOGANE thread (Part 1)
Last time, we posted an article about our roots, Kogane Woolen Company .
This time I would like to introduce you to KOGANE thread.
We will be sharing information about the process of making the yarn and the characteristics of each material so that you can become familiar with KOGANE yarn, so please look forward to it!
Kogane Woolen Mill Co., Ltd. mainly uses carefully selected natural materials to create yarn using a method called "woollen spinning," which involves slowly spinning the yarn while incorporating air.
This yarn, with its softness, texture, and airy lightness, is a trusted favorite among many brands. You may already have it in your hands as a knitted product.
We modify these threads and deliver them to you as KOGANE handicraft threads.
KOGANE 's thread making begins with the selection of materials.
We will select materials from Kogane Wool's materials that fit the concept of " knitting materials. " The four materials we are proposing at the launch are cashmere, yak, blue fox, and other wonderful materials that are not widely available on the market, and we hope that everyone will try knitting them with their own hands! We decided to do this because we were excited to see what would happen if high-quality materials were made into craft threads! We look at threads from various angles and create them with our own thoughts and feelings for everyone.
Once the material is decided, the thickness, texture, and color of the thread are selected.
The four yarn materials we are proposing for the launch are: In fact, the thread is actually quite thin , almost like an ultra-fine or extremely fine thread. We tested how thick the thread needed to be to create a comfortable texture and enjoy the material by bundling and twisting each strand of thread together.
By repeatedly twisting and knitting, twisting and knitting, we are able to offer a balanced yarn.
We've also included a wide variety of colors, from simple to pop and colorful, so that you can enjoy the look as well. If the color makes you feel good when you imagine yourself wearing the finished garment, it's even more fun to knit. We want to offer yarns that will make you feel that way.
Once the general framework of KOGANE 's yarn has been decided, we move on to the final texture-imparting process.
Woolen spun yarn still has spinning oil attached to it when it is spun. After knitting, it is necessary to wash it in a process called "fulling" to remove the spinning oil and bring out the original texture of the material. If the fulling process is not carried out, the texture will not come out, and there is also the risk of the spinning oil seeping out of the yarn...
The yarn delivered by KOGANE is shrunk in the thread state. It has a pleasant texture and the spinning oil has been removed, so you can knit and wear it as is.
We are particularly particular about the texture, and we create yarns through repeated trial and error, striving for the best possible texture. We hope you will experience the quality of our yarns when you touch them.
